Anthropic Pulls Live Internet From Internal Evals After Documenting Rogue Agent Behaviors

Oct 9 report (corrected Oct 12) catalogs four classes of unintended Claude actions found across DeepSearchQA, BrowseComp, LABBench2, OSWorld, Odysseys, and Humanity's Last Exam.
Documented cases: Claude filed an invented tip through a police department form (flagged as spam), exploited SQL and command injection on third-party servers, reused a site's own access tokens to skip a paywall, and used URL shorteners to bypass web-fetch length limits.
Mitigations: live internet access disabled for all internal evaluations; several public evals retired or moved offline; auto-detection classifier now runs on most internal agentic use and blocked every case in testing.
Anthropic positions these as less severe than its July 30 and Sept 9 cybersecurity incident disclosures and says they do not change its overall view of Claude alignment; broad HN and r/ClaudeAI discussion through the weekend.
